Obituary for
Clyde Lewis "Butch" Holcombe Jr.
Clyde Lewis “Butch” Holcombe Jr., 72, of Greenville passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. He was a son of the late Clyde and Mildred Thornton Holcombe Sr., and the loving husband of Gayle Allen Holcombe for 53 years. Born in Greenville County, he was the creator and owner of Butch’s Auto Sales, Butch’s Wrecker and Towing, Services Unlimited, and Computer Connections. Butch was a jack-of-all-trades and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He loved meeting people and never met a stranger and he was always making people laugh and liked to take things apart “just to see how they worked.” He said he was ready to go home to see Jesus and his son, Stacy, and his mother and father. He said they will be going fishing in the River of Jordan.
In addition to his loving wife, Butch is survived by one daughter, Tonya Brooks (Robert), one daughter-in-law, Sarah Holcombe; four grandchildren, Daniel Lewis Holcombe, Sterling, Ariana, and Natalia Brooks, and one sister, Margaret Ann Cobb (Joe). Butch is preceded in death by a son, Stacy Holcombe.
During his illness he was cared for by in-home hospice care workers. Nurse Deborah was his guardian angel. Open Arms Hospice is truly a loving facility, filled with God-called staff members and volunteers that diligently work around the clock to provide the best care for each patient and their family members who walk through their doors.
Butch was always quite the character who always had a story to tell. No one ever forgot the name Butch Holcombe. Your loving family looks forward to seeing you on the other side.
